TASC Clinical Series:
On-Line Training Modules

Twice a year, the North Carolina TASC Training Institute provides a live week-long Clinical Series Training experience for its care managers. After discussions, it was realized that too much training time was being used teaching basic didactic concepts. This cut into time for live interactive opportunities to practice the application of these concepts. The opportunity to receive more training via the web allows the TASC Training Institute to reduce the number of live training hours. With budget constraints and larger manager's case loads, web-based trainings facilitate more quality time management of services rendered on the home front.

Another benefit of the on-line Clinical Series modules is that the training participants prior to the live trainings must complete the four modules presently on-line; thus they are engaged in the training before ever arriving to the live training. By June, 2006, all thirteen modules will be available on-line.

There are now four modules on-line that the training participant must complete before attending the training. By June, 2006, all thirteen modules will be available.

Below is an example of the Understanding TASC module. First I present the initial starting document -- the one used for the live training. Next to it is my on-line version. The transformation involves reconceptualizing the curriculum using instructional design principles resulting in an interactive, engaging web experience for the user.
